SUMMER HAIR MISTAKESby Various Sources on 04/16/17
Do not over condition. Using conditioners that over-moisturize the hair can leave it feeling dull and weighed down and too much protein can cause the hair to be brittle.
Elastic + Wet hair = Bad Idea. Using rubber bands or elastic hair ties on your wet hair can cause serious stress and unnecessary breakage. If you need to keep the hair away from your face, opt for a cotton and Lycra head band or a loose bun.
Soak it up. Wet the hair down prior to jumping into the swimming pool so that your hair won’t absorb the chlorine or other chemicals.
Clarify carefully. Do not use clarifying shampoos too often. This can strip the hair leaving it dry and frizzy.
Sunburn for your hair? Don’t forget that too much sun can be just as damaging to your hair as it is to your skin. A good trick to improve your hair while enjoying warm weather is to work in a deep conditioner and let soak in while you soak in the rays (with SPF of course!).
Pool Rules. Chlorine can be extremely drying and damaging to hair. It helps to soak your hair in fresh water before getting into the pool or avoid submerging your hair at all.
Rub awareness. Finally, do not rub your hair in between your hands and towel because it will rough up the cuticle layer and cause damage that will eventually create moisture loss and dryness.
